Sandy Robinson - Racer
Hi I'm Sandy Robinson. I'm 17 years old, in grade 12 and live in Peterborough.
I have cerebral palsy and have always played lots of adaptive sports; however, I only began alpine skiing at 10 years old in the CADS program in Durham.
I love skiing more than any sport I've ever tried because skiing gives me such an overwhelming sense of freedom;
for all the speed and dexterity I lack in everyday life I make up for it with my ability to move with fluidity on the ski hill.
I joined ODART last season and I had so much fun. I won a bronze in giant slalom at provincials last season and another bronze in slalom at nationals.
There are so many talented athletes from whom I have been able to learn.
Being a member of ODART has forced me to work really hard to improve my skills and also helped me find renewed dedication to my fitness
because I have been able to see the direct correlation between my increased fitness and my performance in training and races.
This year I hope to ski fast, crash some gates and hang out with the team. I hope to attend university for political science.
